HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1950.
CONDITION
From the premium Lord Elgin series comes this Sabre model. The case is 14kt gold filled, a far thicker standard than gold plating and this shows in that the condition is still very good. The case back is plated too, which is rarely seen with gold plated cases. Inside is a Elgin 670 calibre 21 jewel manual wind movement that is clean and working well. While the case is small for a men’s watch (and it was a men’s watch – there is a Lady Elgin series too.) it would now suit either sex. The cinched case may try to resemble the curve of a sabre sword, but it also looks like the curves of a ladies waist to us. The acrylic crystal does have a few marks on it. The snakeskin effect leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour and pattern if preferred.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
