This funky Gruen is likely to have been one of the last ones made, as the company went bust in 1976.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the production dates of the manual wind FE140-1 movement, combined with the styling, we estimate this watch was made circa 1975.
CONDITION
This watch has some stand out features. The metallic green centre disc on the dial. The oval case shape. And the suede effect rally style strap. If you wanted to tone it down somewhat then a standard strap would do this very easily. The solid stainless steel case only has light surface marks, and sits very comfortably on the wrist. We have polished the acrylic crystal to remove fine scratches. The manual wind movement is running fine, but does not feature a quick set facility with the date. The strap is pretty unique, and does have some wear, but it does suit the watch in our opinion.
