The Yema Flygraf was launched as a pilots watch, on the back of the successful Rallygraf and Yachtingraf chronographs that Yema also produced.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

We believe this model was launched in 1970.  We do know that the watch has a movement that was made between 1969 and 1978.  Other watch dealers all seem to say mid 1970’s, and we have no evidence that they are not correct.  By 1977 the Flygraf II was launched, so this example will pre date that.

CONDITION

The dial is the first ting that catches, no, grabs your attention with this watch.  The bold contrast around the subdials is very distinct, and is one of the reasons these watches are so sought after.  You also have the blue and silver slide rule bezel.  If you don’t know how a slide rule bezel works, aBlogtoWatch did this article to try and explain it.  The bezel turns smoothly, correctly without clicks and in both directions despite a small dent near twelve.  The case and screw down case back are all stainless steel, and the case does have a couple of signs of a life well lived but is unpolished.  The case back has the very nice logo embossed, and when removed reveals the Valjoux 7736 chronograph movement that is functioning correctly.  The watch is pictured on a blue leather strap, but a new strap will be fitted prior to the watch being posted – please specify which colour you would prefer when buying the watch.

This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.

Please see the HD video for more detail.  All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned.  We do not photoshop any images, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.
