Looking unworn, this Girard-Perregaux has the case and bracelet made from white metal, possibly silver. Model reference 4335 TG
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Girard-Perregaux changed their logo gradually at the start of the 1970’s to the font used on the dial of this watch. That, combined with the movement production dates and the other silver cased watches being launched at a similar time make us believe this was made around 1972.
CONDITION
Girard-Perregaux have been making watches since 1791, so know what they are doing. They also know how to charge for a watch – the cheapest ladies watch new is £5,000, and that is a steel case. The case and bracelet on this watch are not stamped with the material, but they test for silver. As it is not hallmarked we have to sell this as white metal, with a stainless steel back. We have seen other examples with silver markings, but they are not on this particular watch. The condition is fantastic, really difficult to fault, but being picky there is a small mark on the glass at 2. The three diamonds on the dial are small but add a little glamour, and the design of the bracelet adds to that. The hand winding, 17 jewel movement is a Girard-Perregaux 551-211, likely based on a Buren 88, is all working well via the original signed crown.
