A nice stainless steel 34 mm Movado Sport men’s watch with a patinated dial.  Model number 18136.

From the serial number on the inside of the case back we can date this watch to being made circa 1950.

Movado were founded in 1881, but their high point in terms of innovation was arguably between 1930 and 1950.  This is when their chronographs, and calendar watches really caught the public attention.  This particular watch does not have those complications, but still has quality throughout.  The movement is an in house manual winding caliber 125 with sub seconds, the case is stainless steel and in very good condition.  Under the screw down case back, and protecting the movement, is a dust cover.  The dial has an even patina, possibly due to cigarette smoke, that at least shows that everything is original.  That includes the hands, which are radium filled to match the numbers on the dial.  The minute hand has lost most of the lume.  The crown is not signed, but the domed crown also features on many of the watches from a similar time illustrated in a lovely book we have on Movado.  (The Movado History, by Fritz von Osterhausen).  The padded leather strap is new.

This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
