SOLD 2007 Franck Muller TransAmerica GMT with box and papers

From the Master of Complications, Franck Muller, comes this limited edition GMT / two time zone watch, complete with box, all papers, original valuation and a leather strap as well as the bracelet.  Model number 2000WW.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the associated paperwork from the Franck Muller dealer in Aspen, Colorado, we know this watch was sold in August 2007.  This was number 546 of just 999.

CONDITION

Franck Muller is a small manufacturer by global standards, and have made a name for themselves by producing distinct, complex watches.  The curved cases fit across the wrist nicely, and the bold numerals on the dial make the brand instantly recognisable  to watch collectors but not necessarily the general public.

This watch has their hallmark styling – curved case, complications (in this case the automatic movement has a second time zone and date) and the large hand applied lumed numerals.  It also features a guilloche dial, and Franck Muller did this video to show just what goes into this.  This was a limited edition, and from our research not all came with bracelets.  We have the bracelet on this watch, and also we have a genuine Franck Muller alligator leather band with signed stainless steel buckle.  We also have the original valuation stating the watch was worth $13,500 (£10,149 using today’s conversion rate).  The automatic movement features a 22k platinum rotor, and the red hand can show a different time zone.

This example is in great condition and all functions are working.  We don’t have the right tool to access the movement, but we hope to be able to show the movement soon following a visit to the Franck Muller factory in Geneva.  The highly polished case (as you can see the photographer was wearing a purple shirt!) has no dings, but there is a tiny graze near five.  The sapphire crystal is perfect.  The dial is perfect, and the lume is very, very good.  The bracelet is also very good, and we have two spare links extra too.  The leather strap is a lightly worn Franck Muller item with signed stainless steel buckle.  We have been quoted £400 for a new strap (without buckle), and £2,100 for a bracelet.  The carbon fibre box is great too.  Although the dimensions of this watch make it sound large, it is comfortable on the wrist thanks to the clever curved case shape.

This is a difficult watch to find, and the only other we can see online currently available is £1,000 more, and doesn’t have the bracelet.

This watch will be supplied with the original presentation box, papers, and our Certificate of Authenticity.
