HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1972.
CONDITION
The Geneve range was launched in 1953, as recognition of the good results the 30MM calibre had achieved in the Geneva Observatory timekeeping trials. By 1967 it was in wider use across the range, including more unusual lines like the Dynamic and f300 models. This watch has the later calibre 1012, a slimmer movement that allows for a slimmer case than most automatics, and has a more conventional quick set date than the earlier models. It is all running well. The case is 20 micron gold plated and pretty good condition. The dial has a few spots of dirt and the acrylic glass has a few light scratches, but other than that the only negative is the second hand is missing. We could not find a golden replacement when we checked, but if you can find a hand and have it fitted you will get a bargain – we have fitted a silver hand and the mechanism was turning the hand, but it didn’t look right. It isn’t the end of the world, but we like to point out anything that is a little different to how it left the factory whenever we can. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
