This 9k gold Zenith men’s watch was given for 25 years hard work at Forgemasters Group Ltd.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the London Hallmark on inside of the case back we can accurately date this watch to being assayed in 1970.

CONDITION

While we will never know what J. Dawber did at Forgemasters, he either didn’t wear this on the shop floor or he was office based judging by the condition of the watch.  The DS&S case is solid 9k gold, and DS&S made cases for Rolex and others so knew what they were doing.  The manual wind movement is a Zenith in house, 19 jewel Calibre 2531 and this is running well – it is also beautifully finished, something that many brands cut corners on as the 1970’s went on and price pressures from cheaper quartz watches and quickly rising gold prices forced companies to reduce the quality of parts the customer couldn’t see.  The dial is very clean, with applied markers and the Zenith star under 12.  There are few spots on the right hand side of the dial that are difficult to see with the naked eye.  The leather strap is new.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
