Solid gold case, with a solid gold bracelet and a golden dial, this triple date Omega Geneve would make a handsome addition to any collection. Model reference 331.2541
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The serial number on the movement shows the movement was made in 1970, but the case and clasp are both hallmarked for 1972. It could be that the watch was made in Switzerland in 1970, but not exported to the UK (which would then require British Hallmarking) until 1972.
CONDITION
The case and the bracelet were made by Omega, as witnessed by the OWC stamp on the inside of the case back. The bracelet has a textured finish to the centre, and this is kept in check with fine gold bands down either side. This seems to have stopped any ‘fraying’ that can affect integrated gold bracelets, and there is no twist to the bracelet either, so the design clearly works both stylistically and as an engineering solution. The bracelet is also long enough for most wrists. The signed clasp was made in the same year, but by goldsmiths WHW. Inside is a manually wound Omega Calibre 601, which is adjusted to two positions and has 17 jewels. The matte dial is exceptionally clean for a non water resistant watch of this age, but it is original.
This Omega Geneve watch will be supplied with the original presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
