Possibly a unique chance to find a high quality Grade 1 GPO Minerva pocket chronograph, still with box and hangtag.  Model reference 5010.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the inscription on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being issued in 1969.  That was the last year of the GPO (General Post Office) before all assets were transferred to The Post Office, but the GPO history dates back to 1660.  Read more about them here.

CONDITION

This pocket stopwatch still has the paper hangtag attached to the bow, and with this and the condition of the watch we think this watch could be completely unused.  The box is not marked Minerva, but it has foam inserts tailored to fit this watch and is highly likely to be original.  Being so rare it is hard to compare – how many of these utilitarian cardboard boxes survive?  The movement is a Valjoux 5, something that has been in production since 1925.  This had to be a good movement as the grade one watches used in the GPO were exclusively used to check the timekeeping of the clocks on site – you set the clocks according to the Minerva.

The watch is in excellent condition.

This watch will be supplied with the original protective box, hangtag and our Certificate of Authenticity.
