This Omega Cocktail watch is in very nice condition, with a nice personal inscription on the case back. Model reference 3996
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we know this watch would have been made circa 1960, but the engraving on the case back shows the watch was gifted in 1963 from Herman at Christmas 1963.
CONDITION
This Omega cocktail watch is in lovely condition. One sign that it has had an easy life is that the acrylic crystal is the original 50+ year old one, with the Ω symbol in the centre. The crown is not signed, but not all wear so we can not be sure if that is by design or a later replacement. The movement is Omega’s calibre 244, a hand wound 17 jewel affair that is working well. The dial is exceptionally clean. The bracelet is not marked for Omega, so could well be a dealer fit option at the time – it is a 10k white gold filled bracelet by Duchess, with an attractive Art Nouveau pattern and a more practical safety chain. The case is not gold filled, but stainless steel, and doesn’t appear to have any dents or dinks. The inscription is very nicely engraved, and adds to the watches history.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
