Most 1950’s Bulova watches were rolled gold, but this has a solid 14k gold case and is better for it.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1955.  The movement was made in 1953, but they can not have been paired together until 1955.

CONDITION

Bulova were a business in New York that applied American marketing to watches to great effect.  Bulova actually had the World’s first television advert in 1941, but this wasn’t just a marketing operation – the watches were quality and innovative too.  You will find references to Bulova’s patents inside the case back of Omega, IWC and Longines watches among others.  The 17 jewel movement in this case is Bulova’s own 8AC, with capped jewels that are an upmarket thing to see on a mid range watch.  The case is small for a men’s watch today, but this was not unusual for the time.  The dial has some patina, which is not uncommon with patterned dials like this.  The 14k gold case has quite a light catching design, with lots of slight angles and curves that catch the eye.  There is a small pinhead ding on the left hand side, but otherwise it is good and snaps together crisply.  The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.

Most Bulova models of this period have a model name, but we have been unable to identify this one.  If you can help please do contact us.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
