A sterling silver men’s 1920’s Audax watch with sterile dial. Manual wind movement with sub seconds in a tonnaeu shaped case.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the London sterling silver (0.925 purity) import mark on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being assayed in 1928.
CONDITION
This watch is nearly 90 years old, and anything from that age is allowed a few age marks – especially when you consider the wear, tear and the occasional knock that watches get. That said, this example is in very good order. The dial, with the light guilloche effect dial is relatively clean without being mint, and the blued hands are all good. The hinged case, with decorated sides, has a small dink at 8 and another on the case back. The crown is a likely replacement, and the acrylic crystal too – this doesn’t quite meet the case near two, but is secure. The movement is keeping to with a minute or two a day, and the leather strap is new.
This watch will be supplied our Certificate of Authenticity.
