This titanium Aquatimer has the famous inner bezel, day and date as well as a chronograph while being rated to 300M when new. Model reference IW371918.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the supplied warranty card we can accurately date this watch to being sold in February 2007.
CONDITION
The Aquatimer range started in 1967, using a supercompressor case to have the bezel on the inside of the glass to prevent it from being moved whilst diving. Fifty years later this watch was sold, and you can still buy a new Aquatimer Chronograph with rubber strap from IWC for £5,900, but that watch is in Stainless Steel whereas the one we have here is titanium. Titanium is lighter and stronger than steel, meaning that despite this being a larger watch it is still comfortable to wear for long periods of time. Like the original design, the bezel rotates under the glass to prevent it being accidentally moved, and on this watch it has a sixty click one way rachet mechanism . This inner bezel does have a couple of marks, one at 35 and one near 1 that are not obvious to spot but they are there. The automatic chronograph movement does everything it was designed to do, including quick set for both day and date via the signed, screw down crown. There is a tool mark on the case back that we did, as the back is screwed down very tightly (we stopped then, hence no movement photos). The rubber strap is on good condition and the original buckle is still on there. We have a service case for this watch but not the large original box.
