Still with the original beads of rice bracelet, this Seiko Sealion has a split day date window too. Model reference 6106-8040.

From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in October 1968.

There is no surprise why vintage Seiko watches sell so fast. You get a stainless steel case, automatic movement and Japanese reliability for still affordable prices. And in 1968 Seiko took the top 7 places in the Swiss Observatory time keeping competition at Neuchatal. So comprehensively did they beat the Swiss that the organisers closed the 110 year old competition for forty years, and then re wrote the rules to ban watches not made in Europe. While this watch does not have a chronometer rated movement, the calibre 6106A is automatic wind only and has quick set date. The day can be set via the semi quick set method, and is in English only. This being the DX model, you also get 25 jewels and hacking for accurate time setting. All is working well. The beads of rice bracelet is highly desirable, especially as this is a full length version. The bracelet has also been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The dial has some marks and patina, and the crystal likewise has just a few marks.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
