HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
As you can see from the video of us unboxing this it was new in 2020.
CONDITION
Rather than be dazzled by the high initial price charged by Andre Belfort, let’s instead examine exactly what you get here. This Le Capitaine has a solid link bracelet with screw in links. The crystal is sapphire. The automatic movement is claimed to be an Andre Belfort EKT811, but that is likely to be badge engineering and the base ebauche looks to be a Miyota 21 jewel automatic (although the company do not give that information away). You have screw in crown and pushers, and the pushers are used to set the day and month subdials. You also have a 24 hour indicator and day/night window, and a date window with magnifier cyclops – just one of the Rolex influences in the styling. So overall it is a mechanical watch with a decent specification, but if it were €1,795 we would have walked away from it. However, it is not €1,795, and now represents decent value for a new watch at this price point. We have had one Andre Belfort before, and if you can buy them right they are a good modern choice.
