A very popular microbrand, Spinnaker watches are carving themselves a great following. This is the Bradner model, named after the inventor of the wetsuit. Reference SP-5057-02
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
This watch comes without the box and papers, but the earliest press release we can find is from June 2018 so this watch has to be later than that.
CONDITION
The watch is like new and the hangtag is still on the buckle, so this is more of a review.
The supercompressor style case, where the bezel is behind the glass, is quite a chunky 14 mm thick (remember we normally deal in vintage watches that tend to be thinner, so we notice this more than most). There is plenty of super luminova on the dial and rotating bezel, so it definitely looks the part. Spinnaker say it is water resistant to 150m, helped by the screw down crown, and they have even made the strap water resistant too. Inside is a Seiko NH35 movement, which is no bad thing, but Spinnaker have decorated the rotor with their branding. Personally, given that the movement isn’t finely finished we would have preferred a solid case back and a thinner case because of that. It all feels well put together, and as a design it should be considered a great success.
