HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Like all true NOS watches the paperwork is only partially completed, but the instruction book is from 2016 and given the very limited production run this watch has to be of the same period.
CONDITION
The Alum Pure were available in different colours, and either with the long slots cut into the dial (hence suffix L) or with a mesh dial to reveal the movement slightly (suffix M). The price tag is on the buckle still, at £11,500. It would be awful to wear such a watch for anything more than the photography with that sticker on, so we must presume this is completely unworn. The condition would vouch for that.
In the pretty town of Glashütte, the home to German watchmaking, lies the small workshops of Moritz Grossmann. Small means they build hundreds of watches a year, rather than thousands or hundreds of thousands. This remarkable town also is home to Glashütte Original, Tutima, A. Lange & Söhne, NOMOS, Wempe, Muhle Glashütte and others, but sitting in the centre is the museum of German watchmaking. Karl Moritz Grossmann was the museums founder and first director.
