This automatic AVI-8 Hawker Hurricane is from a brand we have no experience of, but it has a propeller for a second hand – so we needed it!
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
AVI-8 seemed to have been started by a British company in 2013, but documentation is very sparse and we can find similar camouflage dial models in videos from 2013, but they were chronographs.
CONDITION
We are not making any claims that this brand has any long history or even any link with aviation, never mind the Hawker Hurricane from WW2, but it is fun and different and sometimes that is enough. The case is stainless steel, coated with black, and this houses an automatic movement with no makers marks visible. It is machine decorated with stripes that are visible via the exhibition case back, which still has the case back sticker in place. But the reason to buy this watch is the camouflage dial and the propeller three pointed sub seconds hand. The hands are painted, not lumed. The leather strap is the original branded item and is in very good condition. New AVI-8 watches are around £300 for an automatic, and this is in close to new condition.
