A 45mm dive watch with original design features from Gucci. Model reference YA136203
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Sadly we do not have the paperwork for this watch, but inside the case back is a production date stamp of January 2015 so this watch can not be older than 2015.
CONDITION
The Gucci Dive watch is an interesting idea. Originally waterproof to 200M / 20ATM, it tries to differentiate itself from so many clones of the Rolex Submariner. So the dial and bezel are this nice blue colour, the hands are different (the hour hand looks unique, which is not easy), and the date window is at 6, and extends both sides. It is not trying to be something it is not, and that is to be applauded. The large stainless steel case is all good, with just light marks from being worn. The 120 click unidirectional bezel turns nicely. The case back is screwed down with four screws and reveals an ETA quartz movement with quick set date. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath.
This is a large watch, so a comparison therefore with the 45mm Omega Planet Ocean is valid as they wear similar. However the Omega is a tool watch, capable of serious diving to 600M and has better water protection, a helium escape valve and an in house automatic movement – but costs 6 times more than the Gucci. If you want the look but do not need an helium escape valve, this could be an excellent choice.
