HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Tissot launched this watch at the end of 2012, to celebrate winning the annual Concours International de Chronometrie to find the most accurate mechanical watch. Tissot scored 764/1000 points, and the runner up (an F. P. Journe no less) scored 488/1000. You would celebrate, wouldn’t you! As we don’t have the paperwork for this watch we are presuming it is from the first year of production. It matches the model in Tissot’s own video, released in December 2012.
CONDITION
The advantage of selling newer watches for us is that we can link their launches to websites for independent reviews, such as this one from Hodinkee.
This example is good but not perfect. The case is PVD Rose Gold coated, and while the coating is good there is a dink near 2. It is not huge, but it is there. Happily the sapphire crystal is not damaged. There is also a small light scratch on the top left lug. The leather strap is likely to be the original, and while that is a good thing you will have to appreciate it has some wear. It could be replaced easily for a non Tissot strap, and the butterfly clasp swapped to the new strap. The name Le Locle refers to the home town where Tissot have been made since 1853. The dial is very nice, with a wave pattern on the centre and grooves around the numbers. The numbers and leaf hands are also finished in PVD rose gold, giving a modern yet retro look. Rightly for a dress watch there is no lume on this watch.
