HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
We couldn’t find out in a conventional way when these models were available, but we did ask someone who had the watch for her 21st birthday back in 2007 – so we think this watch would have been made circa 2007 too.
CONDITION
Raymond Weil were founded in 1976, when dozens of watchmaking firms in Switzerland were closing down due to the quartz crisis. Pitched at a younger buyer and a bit keener on price than some other companies, they thrived. They have some nice touches too – for example the case back is often gold plated and the gold plating they use is 18k gold for a richer tone. Inside this watch is a ETA quartz movement with quick set date, so it really is set and forget. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
