This Glycine Airman 7 has three separate automatic movements to record the time in 4 different time zones. Model reference 3841.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The Airman 7 was launched in 2003, but this is a later watch – the earlier ones had spring bars, and the later ones upgraded this to threaded bars. Looking at the different references that were launched we thing this watch was made circa 2007, and the leaflet outlining the Glycine distributors has a print date of August 2007 too.
CONDITION
This is a very large watch, but that was needed to house the three ETA automatic movements inside the stainless steel case. The larger dial is powered via an ETA 2893-2, which has date and a fourth hand to use as either a second time zone, or 24 hour indicator. The smaller dials on the right each have their own ETA 2671-2 movements and are time only. This layout not only means you can monitor different time zones, but also there is a safety feature where if the time was critical and one movement stopped you have completely independent movements still running. The exhibition case back, in sapphire crystal, shows all three rotors which is quite cool, and the lume on this watch is not like any other. The rubber strap is the original and has been cleaned. The inner of the box is quite tatty, which is perfectly normal for Swiss boxes of this time and shows it is original to the time and not a later box. All three crowns are signed, and the larger crown screws down too
