HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Sadly we do not have the papers for this watch. But looking at adverts from the time, we believe this watch was made circa 2006. We have a copy of the 2006 Wristwatch annual, which features the black dial version of this Gentry watch at $895. The watch doesn’t appear in the 2005 or 2007 wristwatch annuals, but these are not comprehensive.
CONDITION
Possibly an ideal watch for someone who normally wears vintage but wants a grab and go modern watch for some occasions. Why do we say that? Well most modern watches, especially chronographs, have 43mm+ cases and are 12mm+ thick, which feels huge next to a vintage watch. With this 38mm case you get the feel of a modern watch but without the shear bulk.
Everything works as it should of course. The original, solid link bracelet has a hidden butterfly clasp, and feels secure. The sapphire crystal is unmarked. The coin rimmed bezel, with the lume pip in place at 12, is fixed and doesn’t rotate. The Swiss movement has constant seconds at 6, with a date window cut out, and then the chronograph seconds are on the centre, the sub dial at 2 measures 1/10th of a second and the sub dial at 8 is a 30 minute counter. The electric blue dial captivates and is easy to read. Unusually all the sub dial hands are also lumed.
This watch will be supplied with the original outer presentation cardboard box (but no inner box), and our Certificate of Authenticity.
