HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The Parsifal range was launched by Raymond Weil in 1991, and is still in their range today so without paperwork this is difficult to date. The bracelet featured on this watch was voted one of the best bracelets of 1996 by International Watch magazine, so this post dates that. Early watches had a different arrangement near the crown, and we have the press pack from 2010 when the range was updated again (with the recessed space for the logo). We have found a Day Date version launched in 2005 that has the same crown, bezel and bracelet, plus the words Parisal and Automatic in the correct font on the dial. Given that detective work we are going to say this watch was made circa 2005.
CONDITION
The dial is captivating, but the reason this watch is not £700+ like the other two we can currently find on Chrono24 is also the dial. There are cracks on the dial coming out from the date window. 90% of the time you can not see them, but they are there. The case and bracelet are unpolished and show small scuffs. They could be polished out, but some of our customers do not want watches polished so we have not done that. The automatic ETA 2892 movement is working well, including the quick set date that works via the unusual crown – this watch has a lot going on visually. The bracelet is not full length, but quite a good size and it has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath.
