HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The Reverso model line up first started in 1931, and they are available to buy new today making it one of the most enduring watch designs of all time. And without papers it also makes them very hard to date! But we have found a similar watch for sale with papers and that was sold in 2005.
CONDITION
The trick with the Reverso is that you can flip the case over to protect the dial and glass from sustaining damage when playing polo. Jaeger-LeCoultre offered six different fonts for engraving on the blank side of the case, but this was was never engraved. The size is classic at 23mm x 38mm, and check the wrist photo to see how that looks on a 7.75″ wrist – smaller than average but not too small by any means. The dial on this model has beautiful patterning to the centre, and sub seconds that not many Reverso models have. The whole design is pure art deco. The hand wind movement is working perfectly, and the original strap and 18k gold deployant clasp are both still fitted.
