An all original Tissot Seastar 660 chronograph Swiss watch, with the blue dial, fitted to the signed original bracelet.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Tissot stopped put serial numbers on their watches circa 1983. From looking at period adverts and seeing others available that have box and papers we can say this was made circa 2003.
CONDITION
The dial on this watch is a wonderful blue hue, and the distinctive hands have a good amount of lume applied to them. Overall the design is very pleasing. The watch has been worn, and this is clear to see. The clasp has ‘desk divers’ scuffs which could easily be improved with a polish. The stainless steel case does have some marks, most noticeably a scratch on the top right lug. The painted bezel can be a weak spot on this model, but this has survived comparatively well. The bezel does have a small ding near 2. The solid stainless steel bracelet is a good length and has the wetsuit extension that is fitting for a watch that, when new, could go 200m/660ft under water. We have cleaned the bracelet in our ultrasonic bath. The quartz ETA chronograph movement has constant seconds at 6, chrono seconds on the centre and then the subdials at 10 and 2 measure minutes and 1/10th of a seconds respectively. All reset to zero correctly. The chronograph pushers are the screw down type most famously used to keep the Rolex Daytona watertight. The date quickset feature works via the 12-9-12 method, accessed via the signed screw down crown.
