Named after the famous car road race, this Tag Heuer Targa Florio also looks like 1930’s aviator chronographs. Model reference CX2110.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the model number, and cross referencing catalogues, we know this model was launched in 2001 and been replaced in 2002 with a very similar CX2112, which gives us a very narrow window to date this watch.

CONDITION

The Targa Florio range were launched in 2001, and didn’t particularly sell well.  They were quietly dropped from range, and didn’t appear in the 2004 catalogue.  This is a good looking watch, so why did it fail?  It is probably due to the glut of new ‘classic’ models that TAG Heuer launched at the same time – they relaunched the F1, Carrera and blue dialed Monaco at the same time as the Targa Florio, and watch buyers only have so much money!   They were all priced similarly too, with the Heuer badged Monaco that used the same calibre 17 movement just $150 more at $2,450.  You can read more about the race, and this model, on the excellent reference site Calibre 11 here.  Inside the stainless steel case is a TAG Heuer badged ETA 2894-2 movement, which helps keep servicing cheaper.  This watch also benefits from a new acrylic crystal and a new strap – for the strap we chose a rally style, more in fitting for a Targa Florio watch than the original plain lizard we think.  The dial is perfect, as are the hands.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
