HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The paperwork we have for the watch is not dated. The Breitling Wings range ran from 1996 to 2005, and they received an update in 2000 following Breitling’s decision in 1999 to make all their mechanical watches certified chronometers (COSC), so this watch is likely to have been made around 2001.
CONDITION
The decision to make all your mechanical watches COSC rated was a brave one, but a good one. Breitling wanted to prove their watches were well made, and this independent verification helped get that message across. But that certificate only proves the B10 automatic movement met the high standards required. What it doesn’t tell you is that the pilot bracelet fitted to this watch is one of the most comfortable available – this one is a good size, and has a spare link. Breitling also use fantastic lume, so although there doesn’t seem much on the dial it is still bright. The details, such as the B logo on the tail of the seconds hand, or the same logo discreetly on the edge of the unidirectional bezel, continue to impress. This watch comes with an independent valuation for £1,950 that could be used for insurance purposes.
This watch will be supplied with the original outer cardboard presentation box, inner box (missing the metal letter inserts) papers (including the COSC certificate), a spare link, and our Certificate of Authenticity.
