The Colt Superocean was a very serious divers watch, capable of going to 5000ft depths! Model reference A17345.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
This model was only produced between 1999 and 2002, and the earlier watches had mineral glass not sapphire crystal like this example, so we estimate this was made circa 2001.
CONDITION
If you needed a serious tool divers watch then you really were choosing between this Superocean or a Rolex Sea-dweller – both the Submariner and Omega Seamaster could only go to 300M, a fifth of the capability of this Breitling. In the real world these are top trump numbers, and you should really buy the watch that appeals the most. All Breitling models at this time were COSC certified chronometers, so despite the automatic Breitling calibre 017 having ETA roots it is still excellent, and those more humble beginnings also make servicing easier and cheaper. The Professional bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath, but not polished. There are some missing links, but these are readily available online if you need a larger size. The stainless steel case has also been cleaned but not polished. The black dial is excellent, as are the hands, and the tritium lume has faded to a nice colour. The sixty click bezel turns smoothly, and is correctly signed with the Breitling B. The signed crown screws down nicely.
***UPDATE*** The watch has just returned from Breitling where they fitted a new sapphire crystal. On the photos you can just about make out marks near 11 and they were actually internal crazing, so a new crystal had to be fitted.
