HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the supplied paperwork we can assume this watch was sold in 1999. The model reference on the paperwork doesn’t match, but everything else fits circa 1999 too.
CONDITION
When a watch company find a new way to do something, it is copied by other manufacturers. Whether Rotary looked to Ebel or Longines for their Sportwave or Sportwing models respectively, it is clear for the bracelet that the designer at Rotary was clearly influenced by these models. This is not a criticism, because these bracelets are very comfortable. The dial is something different to what you normally see though – each hour section on the dial has a slightly different decoration, and this is done in 3D so looks different in different lights.
The gold plate on this watch is very good, only showing wear on the high spots of the bracelet and this is almost impossible to see with the naked eye in most lights. The Miyota movement is all working well, and has just had a new battery The dial, glass and hands are close to perfect. The screw down case back does have a few scratches and tool slip marks. The box is good, and has the wrist measuring paper as well as a spare link to an already good sized bracelet – vital on a watch with integrated bracelet like this.
