A rarely seen 18k and steel TAG Heuer 6000, that was a non catalogue model and had to be requested. Model reference CH1151.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
While we have a lot of paperwork for this watch, it all relates to services and batteries being fitted and doesn’t include the original warranty card. We do have the original booklet and instructions, and have found a date of 1998 in those. That fits nicely with the catalogue evidence, which is the chronograph versions of the 6000 were launched in 1997. This model was never in the catalogue – you could get the same case but with a green leather strap, but had to request the case and bracelet especially. A similar chronograph with the gold and steel case and bracelet, but with a silver dial, cost £2,400 in 1998. The only men’s watch in that years price list that was more expensive was a full gold case and bracelet TAG Heuer 6000 chronometer at £10,500!
CONDITION
As if a 18k gold and steel TAG Heuer 6000 isn’t a rare enough watch to find, the green dial of this model combined with the intricate and very comfortable bracelet is very hard to find. At time of writing we can only see two others worldwide for sale. Cosmetically the watch is very good, with the certain knowledge that the solid gold will not show wear like other 90’s TAG watches that used gold plated can (And do!). Inside the watch is a 27 jewel ETA calibre 251.262 chronograph quartz movement that can measure 1/10ths of a second, as well as seconds, minutes and hours. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The case shows some marks and dinks, but nothing unexpected. The bracelet is quite long and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath.
This watch will be supplied with the original outer presentation box, papers including service history and original booklets, and our Certificate of Authenticity.
This watch has been checked against the Watch Register and has not been reported as lost, stolen or implicated in fraud, and a copy of that certificate will also be included.
