Gerald Genta was the watch designer of the last century, and this Gefica model is from his own company. Model reference G36207.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
With such low production watches such as this, it can be hard to accurately date the watch (you can not just find 10 other Gerald Genta watches of the same model for comparison for example!). From the styling and materials, such as carbon fibre, we believe this is from the late 1990’s – before Bulgari bought the company in 2000. Gerald Genta died in 2011.
CONDITION
After a career that included designing the Universal Geneve Polerouter, AP Royal Oak, Patek Philippe Nautilus, IWC SL, Cartier Pasha etc it was not surprising that Gerald Genta went solo for total design control. They produced some designs that were extremely complex, and broke some barriers too – the first Gefica model was the very first watch to have a bronze case for example. If you want one of the pertpetual calendar models you might have to pay £40,000 – or £70,000 if it includes a minute repeater. This watch is a simpler design, so the costs involved are more modest. You have an anodised aluminium case with coin dot edges, in remarkably good condition. The dial is made form carbon fibre by the look of it and each subdial is lined with mother of pearl. The condition is great and that extends to the hands and glass too. Inside is a General Genta GQ2 signed quartz movement, but this is based on the Fredrick Piguet 1270 mechaquartz chronograph movement – as used by Omega, Breitling, Hublot, Chopard and others. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The leather strap is stamped for Vacheron et Constantin (!) and is only lightly worn. The black buckle is new and unbranded.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
This watch has been checked against the Watch Register and has not been reported as lost, stolen or implicated in fraud, and a copy of that certificate will also be included.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon. By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
