One of the very last series one Formula 1 models from TAG Heuer. Model reference WA1218.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
We have found this model in the last TAG Heuer catalogue to feature the Formula 1 first series, dated 1995/1996. But the signed movement is dated for January 1997, the year the 2nd generation F1 watches launched.
CONDITION
The first TAG Heuer Formula 1 watches were launched in 1983 as a cheaper way to access the brand. Gradually the specification and price increased, so this model has the stainless steel case instead of the early fibreglass one, and the rubber strap has also been improved to a stainless steel bracelet, complete with flip lock clasp and divers wet suit extension. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath, and is a decent length. The movement also changed from those early watches Ronda to the ETA 7 jewel with quick set date fitted to this watch. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The fibreglass bezel does have some wear, but is better than average, and it turns smoothly. The dial is clean, and the black hands are easy to read against the white. One small section of the Y in the hour hand has lost its lume, as has the minute hand. The glass is good.
