HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Dunhill launched the Londinium watches range in 1994, saying they were inspired by the architecture of the City. There is very little solid information on this exact model available, but the company had launched replacement watches in 1999 so we have picked a mid point year. This watch was bought on condition rather than dating ability.
CONDITION
The lack of solid information on this brand, which now belongs to Richemont group, is frustrating. We have established that they did use solid gold bezels, but we can not confirm that this watch is gold so we have priced it as gold plated. The same with the metal on the bracelet links – they are a pressed on separate item, and again could be solid gold but we can not confirm that. We have more information on the ETA 956.112 movement, a 7 jewel calibre with quick set date via that distinctive helix crown used by Dunhill. As for condition, we were told when we bought this watch that the owner had never worn it. We can not prove this either, but we can attest that the condition is like new. The bracelet is full length, with five removable links on either side, and this is vitally important with integrated bracelets. The case and bracelet only have very minor marks from storage, and the glass and dial are perfect. A new battery will be fitted too, so this is ready to wear.
