This Cartier Pasha Chronograph, model number 1050, comes with a new leather strap and a Cartier box.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
We have struggled to find similar examples for sale with papers – like this one none seem to have the paperwork. But we do know that this range was launched at Basel 1992 to hit the market late that year or early 1993, and the design was changed (the elliptical chronograph dials were replaced with plain round ones) in 1998. So without further evidence we have selected a mid point year.
CONDITION
The watch arrived on the likely original Cartier leather strap. This did need replacing (although we kept it and it will be included in the sale) with a nice OEM one that importantly fits the Cartier deployant buckle. The watch itself is in good order, with all functions working correctly and none of the three cabachon sapphires on the crown and chrono pushers have been chipped, The dial is original and very good, with just the subdial for seconds at six that has a small mark. The bezel on these models are fixed, and the glass is sapphire with just a few tiny marks near 44 right at the edge of the glass you can see if you really go looking for them. The case is unpolished. The crown guard screws on perfectly and is retained by a chain – the Pasha range was among the first ever waterproof watches when launched in 1932. This model owes a lot to the Gerald Genta redesign of 1985. The sword hands are blued and lumed. The polished rehaut around each sub dial really stands out when wearing this and the more you wear this the more detail you notice. The calibre 053 Cartier movement has 22 jewels and is nicely finished – Cartier never really cut corners.
