Dunhill always made quality, understated products for gentleman and this Centenary model is no exception.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

The Alfred Dunhill Centenary Watch was one of six designs launched at the Basel Watch Fair in 1993 to mark the first 100 years of Dunhill.  One of the other designs was a pocket watch, limited to just 25 examples.

CONDITION

Although this is the Centenary watch the styling is more 1930’s Art Deco than late Victorian.  Cartier used to make the watches for Dunhill, but we have no evidence to say this watch was made by them.  Zenith also supplied some movements to Dunhill, notably the El Primero, but this watch is fitted with a Dunhill branded ETA movement.  This is a lot cheaper than either Zenith or Cartier movements, and also easier to service.  The dial is very unusual, changing from Grey to silver and occasionally very light mauve.  Some of this change could be due to the cambered sapphire crystal, which is scratch and chip free.  The polished case is very good, with just light marks.  The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.  The press photos show the watch on a lizard style strap (we would not be able to export lizard straps under CITES regulations).  This is an excellent alternative to a Cartier Santos style wise, but for a fraction of the price.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
