The Port Royal is a long running Zenith line, and the fourth series like this watch was made between 1987 and 1994.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the supplied paperwork we should be able to accurately date this watch to being sold in January 1992. The paperwork does have a different model number to the watch – this could have been a mistake when it first sold, or the paperwork has been matched at a later date. The paperwork date does match the production dates, so we are saying this watch is circa 1992.
CONDITION
Watches that after 25+ years still have their boxes and paperwork are normally in good condition, as their owners are usually careful with their possessions. This is no different. Zenith are a fine brand, so the combination of a well made watch with box and papers is great to find. Befitting the times the watch is very slim and small by modern standards, and the way it slips under a cuff will be surprising to anyone used to wearing a modern watch. The movement is a Zenith 62.6, which is basically an ETA 255.111 which makes spares and servicing easier. It will be fitted with a fresh battery before being sent out. Unusually for a dress watch this does have a screw down crown, which is quite fiddly as it is small. The gold plating on the bracelet does have some wear n the high spots, but the actual case is good. The quick set date is working perfectly though, just like the rest of the watch.
