HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The problem with timeless design is it is difficult to date! It would have been a lot easier if the original seller had filled out the guarantee papers, but they did not. We know the movement used was launched in 1985, so it has to post date that. The buckle and box are a later design that the earlier watches we have found, and in the guarantee booklet they refer to Germany not West Germany, so were are saying this watch was made circa 1991
CONDITION
This classic design has a very nice white dial, that on close inspection has a parchment type embossed pattern on it. The hands are straight and true, and the glass is good apart from one 2mm scratch near 2. The gold plate is in good condition, and unusually Raymond Weil use 18k gold for their plating, and plate the case back too. The movement used in reference 9124-2 is a seven jewel ETA 955.412. This is a solid choice, and is used by Zenith, TAG Heuer and Longines among many others during its production. It is a reliable unit and has quick set date too. The leather strap is the original signed Raymond Weil item, and has some wear to it. The strap could be swapped for a new OEM leather strap if preferred. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner.
