In the late 1980’s Oris had the foresight to make the brave decision to focus on mechanical watches when all around were going quartz.  This is an example of why this worked so well for them.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

The Oris logo changed in 1985, and this has that later logo.  We also notice that Oris moved towards 25 jewel automatic movements in the early nineties.  But we have found an advert from a 1991 edition of International Watch Magazine that shows a very similar model, albeit with roman numerals on the dial.  We are happy to say this watch was made circa 1991.

CONDITION

What appears quite a simple watch has a few details that are not immediately obvious.  The dial has the hour markers marked twice, with arrow head applied markers in the inside and a dot of gold on the minute track.  Also, the centre of the dial is patterned and on this example the dial is very clean, under an unmarked glass.  The leaf hands are perfect, including on the large subdial.  The case has a few small marks, but the strap has been recently replaced with a quality Hirsch lizard item, with gold tone buckle.  It would also look good on a black leather strap.  The hand wound Unitas 6565 movement is working well.

This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
