Brand new movement just fitted, this men’s Tissot Seastar has a lot of subtle interesting design features.  Model reference L380.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

Tissot stopped using serial numbers in 1983, and they first started using this movement in 1985.  It is hard to pin a date on any of their watches after 1983, but we did find an advert for the dark dialed version of this L380 watch from 1990, so we think this was made circa 1990.

CONDITION

When we got the watch the movement was quite corroded, with a leaking battery the likely cause.  Happily the same ETA 7 jewel movement is still available today, and we could buy a brand new one to install.  The only trace of the battery leak is a slight stain around the calendar window.  Other than that the white dial is good, with raised lines pointing to each hour a little like a web. The gold plated bezel is broad, as was the fashion in the early nineties, and little worn.  The rest of the case is stainless steel, and has broad stepped lugs that are quite unique.  The sapphire crystal is perfect.  The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.  We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
