With the Valjoux automatic movement, this Tissot Chronograph also combines good looks with the horology and heritage.  Model reference L397 .

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

Tissot stopped using serial numbers in 1983, and they first started using this movement in 1985.  It is hard to pin a date on any of their watches after 1983, but we did find an advert for the dark dialed non chronograph version of this L397 watch from 1990, so we think this was made circa 1990.

CONDITION

The movement used in this Tissot is the Valjoux 7750, and if the dial layout is familiar to you that is because it is and has been used by so many companies, including IWC, Sinn, Omega, Longines, and a hundred more.  It has been around since 1974, and the only thing to watch for is the date advance wheel can break – this watch has just had it changed.  The bezel is a rich gold colour, and it has the same distinct lugs as its Seastar cousin.  The blue dial with golden hour markers and hands is a luxurious combination.  The 17 jewel movement is all running well, and the quick set day and date working perfectly – the day is in English only.  The leather strap is is the original and has the Tissot signed buckle still fitted.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
