Certina made this watch in association with Iveco Trucks, but in far smaller numbers than their Volvo tie up. Model reference 186.1001.41
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Certina used serial numbers on their case backs until 1974, and this watch is definitely later than that. The brand Iveco was first formed in 1975, so doesn’t advance the story much. Tissot first used the same ETA movement in 1985, but which time both Tissot and Certina were part of the same SMH group. This watch was made in Grenchen, and Certina left this factory in 2003. Without further information available on this scarce model we have to make a call on the likely production date, and we think this is circa 1990.
CONDITION
All functions of the watch are working perfectly, including the sprung clasp that makes wearing this watch so comfortable. The 12 sided bezel and the case are good, but each has a mark near 10 stopping them from being very good. The bracelet is excellent, with matte edges and that clasp showing just lights desk diving scuffs. Although the bracelet appears to be integrated it isn’t, so you could swap this for a leather or rubber strap if you wanted a change. The denim blue dial is also textured like the material too, in a very appealing way. The Iveco logo appears to have been done by the Certina factory, as it is very good. A new battery will be fitted before this watch is sent out to you.
