This Chaumet Elysees has signs of quality that a lot of people might overlook. But that is to be expected from one of the world’s best jewellers.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The movement in this watch was launched in 1988, and in 1994 Chaumet started putting Chaumet Paris on the dial – this watch doesn’t mention Paris – so it has to be somewhere in this year range.
CONDITION
Chaumet have been established as a top jeweller to Emperors, Pope’s and royalty since 1780. Based in the Vendome in Paris, they also have shops in Bond Street in London and others. With those prestigious addresses you know they are not going to be affordable to most. The cheapest ladies steel watch new is nearly £6,000. This Elysees watch has a fantastic bracelet design, with hidden clasp, that fits the Chaumet style perfectly. It is almost reptilian in design, and with screwed in links has quality too. The case back is marked for gold and steel, and the horn style lugs are screwed on – little details like this cost money to do, and no mere springbar would do. With it being an integrated design please check it will fit your wrist, as you can not swap the bracelet for anything else. Inside is a Swiss ETA movement, with date at 6 that can be quick set, and we will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The watch is signed on the dial, case and inside the clasp.
