A Tissot Woodwatch, with a brand new and unworn original woven strap.  Model reference W150.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

Tissot got adventurous with natural materials in the 1980’s.  First came the Rockwatch, carved from Granite in 1985.  This was followed by the Pearlwatch in 1988 and in 1989 the Woodwatch like we see here.  We have dated this watch to circa 1989 based on the launch date.

CONDITION

The case size would have been a men’s watch in 1989, where slim small cases were in fashion, but today it could be considered unisex.  Everything works perfectly in the ETA movement and we will fit a new battery before sending the watch out.  Tissot chose Mediterranean Briar as the wood for the case, as it is extremely hard – it is commonly used in smoking pipes.  And the true beauty of natural materials is that no two watches will be identical.  There are marks to the case and the glass, but the dial is good.  The woven leather strap it came on was a little stretched, but we found a NOS strap to fit – we just had to swap the strap tail keeper over.  We will include the original strap in the sale, should you even need it, complete with spare buckle.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon.  By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
