An ultra thin Tissot Seastar with sapphire glass and PVD/Gold plated bracelet.  Very typical of the time.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

Tissot stopped putting serial numbers on their movement in 1983, so we can tell that this watch is later than that.  The movement production dates are vague, but looking at the styling and fashions from the time we are confident that this watch was made circa 1987.

CONDITION

PVD is a type of coating to the stainless steel, and like chrome or gold plate it can wear.  This watch does have evidence of this, but it isn’t terrible (some sellers will touch this up with black marker pen, but we don’t do that!).  The whole watch comes in at well under 6mm thick, so is very comfortable to wear and will slip under a shirt cuff in a way that modern watches can only dream of.  The bracelet is long, and this is important on any integrated bracelet as it is difficult to extend them.  The ETA movement is the 255.111, which includes a trimmer to fine tune the watch if needed and an end of life indicator for the battery – it will start jumping every four seconds once the battery wants replacing.  This watch is signed on the dial, clasp (twice), case back inside and outside and on the movement.  The sapphire glass is almost perfect and the lined dial is undamaged.  The date is able to be quick set via the crown.

This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
