The name Rodolphe was a line by Longines named after and designed by their chief designer, Rodolphe Cattin.  Model reference 833097

Rodolphe Cattin is now an independent watch maker, but has also worked for Franck Muller, Omega and Tissot as well as Longines.  On his own website he states this range was made between 1985 and 1989, so we have picked the mid point year.

If a designer puts his name on the dial he must be very proud of his work, and this is certainly original watch design.  The most noticeable feature is the gold plated lug holders, curved over the dial as if they are a melted fountain pen nib.  That leaves a section between the case and tip of the strap, exposing the wrist.  A criticism would be the gold line on the glass, which looks like a seconds hand if you glance at the watch, but this watch only has two hands.  The smooth conical crown is also style over substance, albeit it is easy enough to operate (we would prefer a few grooves to help grip the crown though.)  The movement is a Longines L343.2 six jewel quartz, which is running well.  The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.  We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
