We are not sure there can be a more 1980’s watch than this one.  It will divide opinion, but you probably haven’t seen another.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

With difficulty!  We can not find out when the FE 7228 movement was in production, and details about Ermex are rarer still.  We have picked circa 1987 purely on the styling and comparing this with other watches available then.

CONDITION

This example seems to be unworn.  Each link on the bracelet is matt gold plated, then has a polished section (and this pattern is repeated through the dial too), and the links only have minimal wear that may be from sitting in a drawer rather than on a wrist.  The feel of this watch is quality – each link is screwed together, the watch has a good weight to it, the movement has been upgraded by Ermex to the 6 jewel version, it has glass rather than acrylic crystal, and it appears to be coated in 18kt gold not the standard 9kt.  The watch also has a quick set feature on both the day and date, ideal for the occasional wearer.

SIZE

Approximately 32.6 mm wide including the unsigned crown, 6.8 mm thick.  The bracelet will fit a maximum wrist size of approximately 203 mm.
