This Jaquet-Girard was clearly designed to resemble the rectangular Royal Oak of the mid eighties, but at a more affordable price point.  Model number 626 050 296.

From speaking to the owner of Jaquet-Girard, who sold us this watch, this was made circa 1986.

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak is an iconic watch that saved the company.  The rectangular version, model 6005, is the cheapest way to buy any Royal Oak now but you still need £2,000+ to join the club.  This watch was made during the period the 6005 was available, and was always designed to be much cheaper than the AP – So the bracelet links are gold plated rather than solid 18k, as is the bezel.  The movement is not in house, but a good ETA 954.111 with trimmer and quick set calendar.  The case is stainless steel.  The dial is very clean, and the shaped, applied hour markers catch the light nicely.  The glass does have a few scratches, and the bezel has a circle of gold plate missing near 7.  The bracelet is long, clean and the clasp is not signed, but we can not find any images of other examples to compare against.

This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
