HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Tissot stopped using serial numbers on the movement in 1983, and this movement has no serial number so we have to look a little more. In the book to celebrate Tissot’s 150th anniversary, it stated that the movement used in this watch was only used between 1985 and 1986.
CONDITION
Most divers watches are 40mm and around 11mm thick on average, but this Tissot Seastar recognised that in 1985 please wanted slim and discrete watches, so they made this model. They sacrificed some of the extreme water resistance to focus on being svelte, and now you have a divers style watch which will slide under a cuff. So you don’t get a screw down crown, or screw on case back, but you still get a unidirectional Pepsi coloured bezel and a flat mineral glass. Fitted inside the case is an ETA 555.115 quartz movement with quick set date, and well played Tissot for using a white on black date ring to make sure it is both easy to read but doesn’t stick out. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The bracelet is quite long but that is including the removable bracelet extender. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement, crown, and clasp.
